About
Upstream Thinking was created in 2018 when my two kids left our home to pursue their dreams. I was excited for them but was realizing living a new normal without them in our home was not easy. I felt like a fish swimming upstream going against the current. Nothing felt normal, nothing felt easy and I was mourning knowing that a phase of my parenting kids was gone. This part of my story as a mom and wife needed a different me.
During this time, I had such a strong desire to grow deeper in my relationship with Jesus. I used my new "free time" to spend it reading scripture, reading books, journaling, praying and just really pursuing God in a new way.
God showed up! I began to see him in the small details and the big events in my daily life.
I decided to create this blog as a place to share what God has placed on my heart to share and how I have seen him work in my own life.
I also know following God can feel like you are swimming upstream especially when life gets hard and throws an unexpected curve ball. But...
I hope this blog will encourage you to keep pursuing God, to keep choosing to swimming upstream, and to not give up following Jesus.
Romans 12:2 (NLT)
Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God's will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
